Residents of the Isles of Scilly can benefit from a limited edition offer for the newly launched Island Helicopters service to celebrate the return of helicopters to the islands this month.

Members of the Isles of Scilly Steamship Group’s Travel Club have the chance to experience a helicopter flight with a limited number of reduced price tickets available to club members for the first 10 days of the Island Helicopters service, which are available to book on a first come, first served basis until 21st May.

Travel Club members can book helicopter flights for the period between 21st-31st May for a fixed fee of £85 one way, or £170 return. Full price fares start from £215 return. Limited seats are available so islanders wishing to take up the offer are advised to book quickly, with only three weeks remaining until the Island Helicopters service launches on May 21st. The offer will close on the same day.

The Travel Club is a voluntary programme run by the Steamship Group which provides permanent Scilly residents with discounted travel on its flight and ferry services, with up to 15% off Scillonian III ferry crossings and Skybus flights in peak season and 30% off Skybus flights in the winter months.

Sharon Sandercock, Marketing Manager for the Isles of Scilly Steamship Group, said: “With just three weeks to go until the launch of Island Helicopters on 21st May, we are excited to offer our Travel Club members the chance to take advantage of a limited offer so they can experience a helicopter flight as soon as the service starts operations.

“Island Helicopters will provide islanders with a highly reliable and weather-resistant form of travel to and from the mainland year-round, as well as being enormously fun to use, and we want to ensure full-time residents of the islands have the opportunity to try out the helicopter straight away.

“This limited, 10-day offer is only available to Travel Club members and with ticket sales for Island Helicopters already very strong, we’d advise islanders to book quickly, as the special rate tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis, and the offer will close on May 21st when the service launches.”

Island Helicopters will fly from Land’s End Airport to the Isles of Scilly up to eight times a day, six days a week. Fares start from £215 return and flights will take approximately 20 minutes.

The service will be operated by Gloucester-based Specialist Aviation Services (SAS) in partnership with the Isles of Scilly Steamship Group, using a brand new 10-seater AW169 aircraft – one of the most advanced helicopters in the world.
