Scilly Isles Family Holidays

We are delighted to announce the return of a 2017 Family Day Trip Offer for day trip sailings to the Isles of Scilly, enabling families to save up to 75% on the standard brochure fare. *(terms apply).

Sailing from Penzance Harbour on the Scillonian III is a wonderful introduction to your day out. The kids can stretch their legs on the deck and you can enjoy sprawling seascapes, views of the Minack Theatre and St Michael’s Mount. It’s well worth keeping a close eye on the waves, as the ferry is occasionally joined by a pod of dolphins! Of course, the real thrill of the journey is spotting the green tufts of Scilly on the horizon and choosing your must-visit beaches with the kids before you arrive.

Having arrived on Scilly around midday, you can enjoy an afternoon exploring the islands before one last chance to see the islands from the sea as you return to the mainland at the end of a memorable day. Visit a couple of our suggested day trip itineraries here.

A day out to remember

The Abbey Garden

Hop on a boat to Tresco, and you're minutes away from the world- famous Abbey Garden. It's perfectly possible to spend half an afternoon exploring, and still make it back for the Scillonian home. Scroll down for more information.

Family time on the beach

You've no shortage of beaches to choose from, but Bar Point, at the north of St. Mary's is well worth the trip. Take the children, and they'll think you've gone abroad.

Explore the coast

You’ll find bike hire mere yards from the quay, boats waiting to show you puffins and seals, and kayaks for hire. If you’d like some more direction, local archaeologists and wildlife experts can give you a guided tour. Adventures are waiting.

Lunch with a view

You won’t find fresher seafood, better local produce, or more tables with an ocean view. It would be worth making the trip for lunch alone.

Everyone's invited

The Isles of Scilly are famously dog friendly – and whether you’re visiting for one day or many, your best friend can expect a warm welcome too.

Visit Tresco Abbey Garden

There’s one enduring reason why people take a day trip to Scilly: hop aboard a boat at St. Mary’s quay, and you’re only a ten-minute ride away from Tresco, and the world-famous Abbey Garden.

You don’t have to be an avid gardener yourself – or even a grown-up – to appreciate the garden’s sheer variety of sights, textures and aromas; quite simply, there’s a surprise around every corner.

Boats between the islands are well co-ordinated with the Scillonian III, so a sailing day trip gives you ample opportunity to see many – if not quite all – of the 20,000 exotic plants within the garden’s network of pathways, sculptures and walls.
