B1 Aircraft Mechanic (Non licensed)
Requirements of the role
- Competent aviation or engineering mechanic preferably on aircraft with experience on; airframe/piston engine/Turbo propeller.
- Working on a rotating 40 hour (5 day) alternating shift pattern that covers a 6 day week flying operation.
Duties include (but not limited to):
- Base and line Routine and non routine maintenance of DHC6 Twin Otter and BN2 Islander aircraft as part of a small engineering team, carrying out 50/100/200/ annual, inspections, defect rectification on airframes and engines under the instructions of shift supervisory structure.
Currency or certificate of competence desired to support the application.
22 days (rising to 25 after three years) per + Bank holidays.
Extract of Maintenance Organisation Exposition;
The Engineering Mechanics are responsible to their shift supervisor, the Hangar Superintendent and ultimately the Engineering Manager for:
(a) Carrying out all work to the highest standards required, maintaining aircraft airworthiness in accordance with Company manuals and procedures and the CAA
(b) Observing required safety standards and to ensure that all equipment and test apparatus is used correctly and safely.
(c) Ensuring that all work carried out is signed on completion of each task, it must be noted they do not hold any final release to service authorisation and therefore may only sign for their work in the ‘Eng’/Mech’ column as shown on example in section 5.1.
(d) Ensuring that any aircraft defect or abnormality not previously noted is reported to the appropriate Inspector/Supervisor or Engineering Manager.
(e) Completing their job sheets daily and as accurately as possible.
(f) Returning publications to the Technical Records department, when no longer required.
(g) Maintaining a suitable set of tools that are acceptable to the company.
(h) Ensuring that the Work environment, Hangars/Workshops etc are clean and tidy.
(h) Booking in and out on the company clock card system.
Aircraft engineering mechanic
It is desired that the candidates have piston aircraft and turbo propeller maintenance experience on aircraft below 5,700Kg MTOW; however mechanical engineering experience will be considered. Competitive salary dependent on experience, references and a supporting certificate of competence.
