Ships Cook, Scillonian III
We are seeking a Ships Cook to join us at one of Cornwall’s fastest growing companies. As a Chef aboard our passenger ferry, you’ll be working as part of the busy team on Scillonian III. Applicants must be able to commit to a 12-hour day, 3 – 6 days per week, Monday – Sunday.
The Isles of Scilly Steamship Group is unique in the UK in terms of its breadth of transport operations including shipping, airline and airport services; providing lifeline links for both passengers and freight between the Isles of Scilly and the mainland. The Group operates the Scillonian III passenger ferry and the freight ship Gry Maritha. Inter-island freight and mail services are provided using two smaller vessels. The Company also operates Penzance Dry Dock to maintain its own vessels and provide services to external clients.
To plan and provide nutritionally balanced meals to our crew of 19
Ordering of stores and stock control
Keeping the galley and stores to a high level of cleanliness
Maintain records and procedures in accordance with maritime regulations
Compliant with Ships security and safety procedures
Qualifications and requirements:
A current Food Hygiene Certificate
ENG1 medical certificate
Able to undertake STCW 95 Basic training
You should have a positive attitude and be flexible towards working hours
Staff will be required to pass an ENG1 medical
– 2 weeks on 2 weeks off (accommodation available when on duty) OR live locally and work 5-6 days per week (Mon – Sun) depending on operational demands
Average day will start at 07:30 and finish at 19:30
9.5hrs on duty with free time whilst on the Isles of Scilly
