The next chapter
Be part of a once in a generation moment
The first sailings of Scillonian IV will mark the start of a new era for island travel.
Whether you are returning to familiar shores, seeking out somewhere new, or simply spending the day exploring, 2027 is your invitation to write a new page in your Isles of Scilly story.
With significant interest anticipated for this historic first year, early booking is recommended to secure your preferred dates.
Scillonian IV will have a passenger capacity of 600, which is a 24% increase compared with Scillonian III.
Scillonian IV has been designed with passenger comfort and seakeeping in mind. Anti-roll fin stabilisers and a Hull Vane?, a fixed stern hydrofoil, are designed to reduce pitch and roll, while the vessel’s hull form has been developed to improve stability and seakeeping in a range of sea conditions.
The vessel also features modern passenger lounges and upgraded facilities throughout.
Yes. There is outside seating across all three passenger decks, including a larger, partly covered outside area where passengers can enjoy the views and keep an eye out for wildlife during the crossing.
You will notice that some departure times differ from the familiar 09:15 departure from Penzance and return 16:30 from St Mary’s. The timetable has been developed to accommodate operational requirements at both Penzance and St Mary’s Harbour. This is based on safety grounds as we bring this new vessel into service, this is also a requirement to maintain access for emergency purposes as well as other harbour users. This means that on certain tidal conditions, some sailings will depart at different times from what you may have traditional been used to. Safey will always be our absolute priority.
Yes. Scillonian IV has been designed with improved accessibility, making it easier for passengers with reduced mobility to access and enjoy the whole vessel.
Unlike Scillonian III, passenger lifts provide access to all passenger decks for wheelchair users and passengers with reduced mobility. There is also an accessible toilet on each of the three passenger decks, along with increased priority seating throughout the vessel.
Yes. Day trips will continue to be available throughout the 2027 season, although the amount of time available on the islands will vary depending on the timetable and tides.
Most day trips will allow around 4 hours on the islands, and the varied timetable also means there will be opportunities for some particularly long days on the islands, with the longest planned day trip offering up to 6hrs 45mins on Scilly. There will also be a small number of double sailing days during the season, giving passengers up to 8 hours on the islands.
On some dates, the time between sailings will be shorter and a day trip may not be recommended.
