TRAVEL BY SEA - SCILLONIAN III
Boarding Times and Check-in
Passengers may usually board 60 minutes prior to the scheduled sailing time, but should be on board at least 30 minutes before the ship’s departure time. Please also be aware that check-in closes 15 minutes prior to departure. Sailings cannot be held for late passengers, nor can places be guaranteed on a subsequent journey.
Luggage
Checked Luggage
Two pieces of personal luggage, up to a maximum combined weight of 25 kilos per passenger, are included in the ticket price. All passenger luggage is loaded by hand into containers for the voyage, so please do not use excessively large or difficult to handle cases or bags. No single piece of luggage should exceed 20 kilos.
There is NO luggage allowance for Day Trip passengers.
All luggage must be clearly labelled with name, bookng reference and the ISLAND to which you are travelling, or your mainland address on the return journey. On your outward journey to the Isles of Scilly all clearly labelled St. Mary's luggage will be automatically delivered to your holiday accommodation for a small charge by local haulage firms: Island Carriers (01720 422662) or Richard Hand Haulage (01720 423007).
If you prefer to collect your luggage in person at St. Mary's Quay, please indicate this on your luggage labels, or refrain from indicating your island accommodation.
If staying on an off-island it is important to ensure that luggage destined for St. Martin’s, Bryher, Tresco or St. Agnes is correctly labelled as it will be automatically loaded onto the appropriate onward launch on arrival at St. Mary's Quay. Off-island labels are available at Penzance Quay.
Hand Luggage
Hard case and/or oversize items should not be carried as hand luggage and must be loaded into the luggage containers.
Please note: Any luggage items may be subject to security checks.
If you are in doubt regarding any item you may wish to carry, please contact the Isles of Scilly Travel Centre on: 0845 710 5555 or email: sales@islesofscilly-travel.co.uk
Freight
The following items are all classed as FREIGHT and must be booked and paid in advance: Windsurfers, Camping Equipment, Bicycles, Boats, Diving Equipment, Motorized Wheelchairs and Trailers (under 2m only for St. Agnes and St. Martins). Charges and luggage are for transport by the Steamship Group to St. Mary's quay only.
Camping Gas and other fuel must also be treated as freight and carried separately. These items should be declared when checking in luggage.
Please ask our Travel Centre for advice about freight well in advance: 0845 710 5555 or email: sales@islesofscilly-travel.co.uk
Passengers with Special Needs or Reduced Mobility
Scillonian III crew will always try to accommodate passengers with special needs; however, due to the ships design and safety restrictions we may not be able to cater for all requirements.
On-board Scillonian III there is a Dolphin Stairlift on the main stairway between the Bridge Deck and Upper Deck, suitable to carry passengers up to 150kg. This is a 'person lift' and does not take a wheelchair. Passengers will need to be able to transfer from their chair onto the stairlift unaided, or with assistance from their own helper (Scillonian crew are not permitted to lift passengers).
Access to the ship is provided by a gangway and is not suitable for motorized buggies, and these are loaded as freight. Passengers who use motorized buggies can transfer to a standard wheelchair which we have available, this must be pre-arranged.
Please contact us by telephone if you have any extra requirements or queries: 0845 710 5555.
Unaccompanied Minors
Isles of Scilly Travel regret that we cannot accept unaccompanied children under the age of 16 for travel onboard Scillonian III.
Children between the ages of 8 and 16 can be accommodated for travel on our Skybus services. Click here for more details.
Delay and Damages
Sailings are subject to weather and other circumstances, and the company is not responsible for loss or damage resulting from delayed, altered or cancelled sailings. Passengers are strongly advised to ensure they have comprehensive insurance.
All vehicles, goods and luggage are carried solely at the owner's risk and subject to company conditions of carriage.
Bikes, camping equipment, diving equipment, boats, canoes, wind surfers, surf boards and trailers are carried as freight. If they are not received by us ready protected for carriage by sea as freight, they may be susceptible to cosmetic damage. Insurance on these items should be taken out to cover any such damage.
Dogs
Dogs must remain on the lead at all times and are not permitted in the ‘Buffet’ area or ‘Lower Saloon’.
Dogs are sole responsibility of the owner/handler and Isles of Scilly Travel does not accept liability for damage or injury caused by dogs whilst on Isles of Scilly Steamship Company premises or ships.
Please note: Ships can be busy and noisy and have some vibration. As a result of this and being in a confined space, dogs can become agitated whilst on board. Customers are advised to stay with their dogs at all times and to keep them calm and quiet.
Other customers may not be aware of your dog's temperament while travelling and may approach it. You may wish to consider, for the safety of your dog and other passengers, muzzling your dog before boarding the ship.
Car Parking
Parking is not allowed on the quay. For those staying on the islands we strongly recommend leaving your car in a secure car park.
