Skybus Weather Advisory – Friday 21st February

The weather forecast for Friday the 21st of February 2020 is indicating the likelihood of a very strong to gale force crosswind at St Mary’s, which may cause disruption to Skybus flights. At this time, no flights have been cancelled. For Skybus passengers booked to travel on Friday, you may transfer to a flight on a different date, without paying an amendment fee and where space allows. Gry Maritha – MONDAY 17TH FEBRUARY 2020

Based on the current weather forecasts for next week, the Gry Maritha will load as normal on Monday 17th February. However, we do not expect to depart Penzance Harbour until Tuesday 18th at the earliest. At this time we cannot commit to a time. Updates will follow on Monday 17th February. Although no flights have been cancelled at this time, any passengers booked to travel with Skybus on Friday or Saturday may transfer to a flight on a different date, without paying an amendment fee, where space allows. Gry Maritha Update: Friday 14th February 2020

Due to the current weather forecast, Gry Maritha is planning to sail at the earlier time of 9 am on Friday 14th February 2020. This will allow the ship to get to St. Mary’s, discharge freight and return to Penzance before the forecasted storm arrives. We are advising customers and suppliers to bring forward any perishable freight booked for Fridays sailing and deliver your freight items to Penzance quay between 10 am and 1 pm on Thursday 13th February. Gry Maritha is aiming to arrive to St. Mary’s at approximately 2 pm on Friday and will return to Penzance later that day (14th). The weather forecast for Thursday 13th February 2020 indicates the likelihood of strong, gusty winds at Land’s End, Newquay and St Mary’s, which may cause disruption to Skybus flights, particularly in the morning. Although no flights have been cancelled at this time, any passengers booked to travel with Skybus on Thursday may transfer to a flight on a different date without the need to pay an amendment fee, where space allows. Skybus weather disruption update

The weather forecast from Thursday 13th February onwards is indicating the likelihood of continuing, strong to gale force winds which may cause disruption to Skybus flights. We will continue to monitor the weather forecast on a daily basis and will issue weather advisories. Gry Maritha Update – Tuesday 11th February

After reviewing the weather forecast we are unfortunately unable to sail as previously planned on Tuesday 11th February due to poor weather conditions. The Gry Maritha will now aim to depart Penzance on Wednesday (12th) at approximately 7am, arriving into St. Mary’s around midday. We will continue to load freight as normal today and will be able to accept more freight tomorrow, Tuesday 11th February. This must be booked in with Penzance freight office. Unfortunately, the scheduled freight sailing for Wednesday 12th February has now been cancelled. We will continue to monitor the weather forecast for the rest of the week and if possible we will run an additional sailing later this week. Gry Maritha Update – Monday 10th February

Due to the current weather forecast of storm force winds, the Gry Maritha scheduled sailing for Monday 10th February has been delayed. We will aim to depart Penzance on Tuesday (11th) morning at 6am. The Gry will be loaded as normal on Monday (10th). It is anticipated she will arrive into St Mary’s at 2pm on Tuesday (11th); upon arrival all freight will be discharged and loaded for a quick turnaround. Arriving back in Penzance around 7am on Wednesday (12th). We will continue to monitor the forecast for the rest of the week and will update you if other changes to the schedule are needed. Gry Maritha Customer Notice – potential disruption for week commencing 10/02/2020

The current weather forecast for the week commencing 10/02/2020  is showing the likelihood of disruption to the Gry Maritha sailing schedule. With this in mind, we are advising customers to bring forward any freight supplies to this week’s sailings, where possible. The forecast is constantly changing and whilst it’s too early to say at this stage, please expect some delays from Monday onwards. Reminder: Schedule maintenance programme for Gry Maritha & Lyonesse Lady 2020

The Gry Maritha and the Lyonesse Lady will be coming out of service on Sunday 15th March for their routine maintenance program.  We wanted to give you as much notice as possible, so that you can prepare for the 14 days that both vessels will be out of scheduled service. We do not anticipate any major problems as both vessels have undergone regular routine maintenance throughout the season. During this time the Scillonian III will be carrying all freight to and from the Islands and the Swift Lady will be providing the service to the Off-Islands. Please keep this in mind when placing orders during this period as we will have some restrictions on freight. The Swift Lady will only carry small items and minimum quantities during this time. Please note that bulk orders and large items cannot be carried. No single item can be in excess of 25kg. Gry Maritha, Cancelled Sailing Monday 27th January 2020

After reviewing the weather forecast this morning, today’s sailing has been cancelled due to poor conditions in St. Mary’s by the scheduled arrival time. Out next weather window and planned sailing will be as scheduled on Wednesday 29th January. We are speaking with all suppliers this morning giving them the option of taking away perishable goods and we will continue to load other freight items as normal. Gry Maritha update – Monday 27th January.

After reviewing the weather forecast, the Gry Maritha will load in Penzance on Monday as normal and will leave Penzance approximately at 17:00hrs. We will unload all freight on arrival to St Marys (ETA 22:00) and head straight back to Penzance Monday night. Freight will be restricted to a minimum to help speed up the turnaround times and bearing in mind the poor weather forecast, we expect that there will be disruption on St Mary’s quay on Tuesday (28th) morning. Our freight team on St Marys will be in touch to arrange times for return freight. This plan is tentative, we will continue to monitor the weather and keep you updated of any changes. The weather forecast for tomorrow, Saturday 25th January 2020, indicates the likelihood of low cloud and reduced visibility at Land’s End and Newquay in the morning, which may cause disruption to Skybus’ flights. Although no flights have been cancelled at this time, passengers that are booked to travel with Skybus on Saturday 25th January, may transfer to a flight on a different date without the need to pay an amendment fee. Gry Maritha update for Monday 27th January

The current weather forecast for Monday 27th January is showing the likelihood of disruption to the scheduled sailing. We are continually assessing the weather and will make a decision either later today,  Friday 24th January, or first thing tomorrow morning, Saturday 25th January,  to allow customers and suppliers to plan for disruption to the scheduled freight sailing. Penzance Road Closure Friday 17th January 2020

We would like to remind all customers and suppliers that Cornwall Council will be re-surfacing Wharf Road from Ross Bridge to the Dolphin Tavern (Penzance) on Friday 17th January . Please be aware this will cause delays for deliveries and collections to North Arm Pier and the Gry Maritha. We are working closely with Cornwall Council to minimise disruption, but please bear this in mind when planning your journey. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Gry Maritha Update Wednesday 15th January

Further to our earlier notice, the Gry Maritha will depart Penzance today (15th January) at approximately 18:30 and arrive into St Mary’s later tonight. Freight will be discharged from 7am on Thursday 16th January. The Gry Maritha will depart St. Mary’s mid-afternoon as scheduled on Thursday and arrive back in Penzance later that evening. Gry Maritha Update – Wednesday 15th January,

We would like to remind you that the Gry Maritha plans to depart Penzance during the evening on Wednesday 15th January, possibly later than the scheduled time. The Gry Maritha aims to arrive in Scilly before the usual discharge time on Thursday (16th January) morning. Once unloaded the ship will stay alongside on St Mary’s quay until mid-afternoon. We estimate she will be back in Penzance late Thursday night. We will issue an update later this morning with more specific times, after receiving the latest weather forecast. Customer Notice, Monday 13th January 2019 : Gry Maritha Update

After reviewing the weather forecast for Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th January, Gry Maritha’s scheduled sailings have been cancelled. The next safest opportunity is to depart Penzance early evening on Wednesday 15th January, approximately arriving into Scilly during the early hours of Thursday morning.  When all freight has been unloaded, the Gry will aim to depart Scilly Thursday afternoon (later than scheduled), so please expect some delays with the return to Penzance, estimated arrival into Penzance is late Thursday night. Please note that this a tentative plan as the weather is constantly changing. We will continue to monitor and update as appropriate. Penzance Road Closure update: Monday 13th January to Saturday 18th January 2020

We recently sent out a customer notice regarding a road closure in Penzance but released incorrect dates. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused, please see below for the correct dates. Wharf Road in Penzance will be closed between Monday 13th January to Saturday 18th January 2020 for essential maintenance work and re-surfacing between Ross Bridge and the Dolphin Inn. Please be aware that there will be traffic disruption during this time. We will endeavour to minimise disruption and will be accepting goods as normal but please expect some delays. Customer Notice: IT planned maintenance between 3pm – 4pm on Friday 10th January 2020

To provide the best possible service to our customers we will be upgrading IT hardware this afternoon.  This upgrade will take place between 3pm – 4pm today. Please be aware that during this period, staff will be unable to access our booking system, emails or make use of some internal phone lines. Bookings can still be made or amended on our website – www.islesofscilly-travel.co.uk – which will be unaffected by the work being undertaken. We will complete the upgrade as quickly as possible and will provide an update as soon as the switch has been managed. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

St. Mary’s Travel Centre: New Opening Times

From 18th March 2019 our St. Mary’s Travel Centre will close just before check-in opens for Scillonian III.  For 16:30 sailings the office will be open from 8am to 3pm. Opening times will vary on dates where we have special sailings, where the office will close 90 minutes before the Scillonian’s scheduled departure time.
