Subject to completion of engine trials, we are expecting the Gry Maritha to resume service, on Friday 8th April, departing Penzance at a later time of 20:30. The crew will unload in St Mary’s on Saturday 9th April at approximately 07:00.
The ship will aim to return to Penzance and berth alongside Lighthouse Pier by 15:00 on Saturday afternoon. Normal scheduled service will resume on Monday 9th April.
This year’s scheduled maintenance has been incredibly busy, with steel repair, port main engine renewal and painting; alongside a number of planned maintenance items, which have taken place together with her annual surveys.
The Gry is now in Penzance wet dock for completion of the refit having undocked last night, Monday 4th April from the dry dock. The delay by one day is a result of the additional steelwork repairs and subsequent inspection and testing that is required in accordance with Lloyds Register rules and regulations.
We would like to thank the crew of the Gry Maritha, our support teams and Penzance Dry Dock who have worked back-to-back 12-hour shift patterns to complete the works and minimise disruption to the freight service.
We’d also like to extend our gratitude to Scillonian III and our freight teams in Penzance and St Mary’s, who have continued to deliver freight during this time. And most importantly to you, our islanders, for your patience and understanding.
Thank you once again.
