Eight Isles of Scilly enthusiasts have won a return flight to the island paradise after waxing lyrical about why they want to visit the destination in our online competition.
To celebrate the 80th anniversary of flights from Land’s End to the Isles of Scilly, we asked people to tell us why they want to visit Scilly in just 80 characters or less, in a social media-based ticket giveaway.
Just under 300 messages were posted to Isles of Scilly Travel’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages, and featured a variety of creatively-worded descriptions about the appeal of the archipelago.
The eight entries picked by our judges have won their authors a return flight from Land’s End to Scilly in a Skybus plane so they can discover for themselves the destination that’s like nowhere else in England.
Our lucky winners are: Jo Gorton, John Stickland, Hilary Keenor, Shirley Grover, Adrian Williams, Tony Archer, Diana Cusack and @MyManor (Twitter handle).
